Today is the first day of spring and what better way of celebrating it than with your lover and a picnic basket filled with the foods of love. So tell your bosses to get screwed and take off for some romantic spot where the scent of jasmine and love are in the air. Then spice it up with these sure-fire aphrodisiacs.

Aphrodite

Aphrodisiac love foods are named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty and sexuality who emerged from the ocean on an oyster. Unhappily married to Hephaestus, she had affairs with, amongst others, Ares and Adonis. Today the mother of Eros is associated with sexual desire and eroticism.

Many foods have claimed aphrodisiac properties, but most of these are myth. Some, however, have been proved to have psychological or physiological influences on libido. So why not try them out. Hey, even if they don’t work, they’re delicious.

Foods of Love that are Known to Work on the Sexy Bits

The following are said to stimulate passion in women:

  • Almonds
  • Celery
  • Chocolate
  • Nutmeg
  • Honey

The following are said to enhance male hormone production:

  • Avocado, which grow on what the Aztecs called the testicle tree
  • Banana
  • Truffles
  • Basil
  • Garlic

Foods of Love that are Visually Suggestive

The following foods have been touted as aphrodisiacs since the beginning of time because of their suggestive shape:

o    Asparagus

o    Figs

o    Strawberries

Foods of Love – Stimulants

Alcohol lowers inhibitions and increases confidence. And when it comes to love, there is no greater aphrodisiac than champagne.

And bubbly is the perfect accompaniment for oysters; the symbol of love food since the time of Aphrodite. Completing the trinity is Tabasco sauce, which contains chilli peppers. The capsicum in chillis releases endorphins, which will make you even happier and ready to fall into your partner’s arms.

What You Will Need for the Perfect Picnic

  • Picnic basket with plates, crockery and champagne flutes. Also in it should be honeyed almonds for snacks; Tabasco sauce; an avo salad; an asparagus salad; a green salad with nutmeg, shaved truffles, celery and basil; garlic bread; bananas, figs and strawberries; and honey and melting chocolate.
  • Small cooler box filled with ice for the oysters.
  • A larger cooler box half filled with ice for the champagne.
  • Fondue set and mentholated spirits for melting the chocolate.
  • Blanket and cushions.
  • Pack of condoms.

The Love Feast

Follow these easy steps to turn the first day of spring into a love feast:

o    Find a romantic spot and lay the blanket and cushions on the ground.

o    Start with oysters dripped with Tabasco sauce washed down with champagne.

o    Set out the main course with the bread.

o    Light the fondue burner and start melting the chocolate; stir in honey. While this is happening peel and slice the bananas and halve the figs. Feed your partner the figs by placing it in his mouth and squeezing out the flesh. When chocolate has melted use fondue forks to dip in pieces of banana and strawberries before feeding your lover.

o    Lie back and open the pack of condoms.
