Indulge in food from Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Malaysia and India at Metro Asian Diner, a restaurant for those who love the ‘one of a kind’ vibe.

Metro Asian Diner – One of a kind

Situated on 26 Gleneagles Road, Greenside, is the Metro Asian Diner. It is a picturesque space that is not merely a restaurant, but an experience – a feast for the senses.

The aroma of fine dining and fresh spices fill the air, while your eyes gaze upon the magnificent décor. You taste the succulence of your Asian inspired meal and you are taken away by the calming soft music that hangs in the air.

This is truly a one of a kind restaurant.

The Décor

Red, black, white and grey are the colours that adorn the space, making the restaurant feel like a French boudoir with an Asian twist. Almost sitting on the cusp of quirkiness.

Glorious red crystal as well as cream shell-like chandeliers hang from the ceiling. The glass doors that surround the venue add to its appeal, letting you gaze upon the vibrant people of Greenside passing by as you dine comfortably on lush cream chairs at a dark wooden table.

M.A.D is not merely a restaurant, but rather a contempory, current, communicative and worldly space.

Fine Asian Dining

The menu will take you on a delicious trip through Asia. It boasts a variety of choices that will speak to just about every persons taste. There are also 12 different vegetarian options to choose from, making it a place for everyone to enjoy.

With delectable and unique meals such as crispy fried beef strios, calamari salad and, my personal favourite, and for the veggie lovers out there, the Tao Hou Peuw Wan, which consists of wok tossed fresh vegetables, firm tofu, shitake mushrooms, glass noodles and the exceptional Tokyo sauce.

M.A.D Alcohol and Cocktails

M.A.D offers a great variety of cocktails, leaving you spoilt for choice as you read through the menu. And with each costing only R35, you will probably end up trying them all. Dragon’s Fire is a great cocktail for the adventurous. It consists of Absolut Vodka, cointreau, lime, cranberry juice with melon syrup and fresh chilli.

Then there is the Kingyobashi, a fish bowl that serves four people, which is made up of blue curacao, coconut rum, absolute vodka, pineapple juice and lemonade. This is sure to get you and your friends perfectly buzzed on your night out.

My favourite M.A.D cocktail would be the Absolut Crush on a Geisha (You gotta love these ‘mad’ names). It consists of Absolut vodka (of course), apricot and peach syrup crushed with fresh lime and apple juice. Not too sweet, not too bitter, just deliciously perfect – and alcoholic.

Eat, Drink and then Dance

After you have enjoyed your delicious meal and lovely cocktails at M.A.D, you can always hop next door to Tokyo Star bar and lounge to dance and keep drinking well into the evening.

And remember, ‘what happens inside Tokyo, stays inside Tokyo.’

So for a yummy night out, head to Metro Asian Diner in the ever popular Greenside and get your party on.

M.A.D also offers a premiere, fully serviced venue for corporate launches, exclusive parties and distinctive birthday celebrations.
